IMHO, it is unwise to use Hitler analogies. They range from downright offensive to simply inaccurate, not to mention overuse of his despicable name, his atrocities, his miserable existence could desensitize people to the unimaginable horrors endured by millions.

I’ve never used the H word, but I admit, I have been guilty of throwing in a Chimpenfuehrer joke or two myself a few Bush years ago, and now regret it. Anger and frustration can make us say or do things we shouldn’t.

Sherrod Brown apparently feels similarly about remarks he made recently (video here):

“I am passionate about fighting for the middle class,” he said Friday. “Ohio’s teachers and nurses and police and firefighters are facing the loss of their collective bargaining rights, and I think that’s wrong. But in speaking about this, I should not have mentioned the hostility of tyrants, like Hitler, to unions. I don’t want my mistake to distract from the critical debate in Ohio, and I apologize for it.”

ANd that’s a REAL apology. Not some half-assed “I’m sorry if my remarks offended someone” blah blah blah. Take note Republicans. THAT is how you apologize.
