First things first:

We’ve nearly reached our fundraising goal! Pleaseohplease, help us end the dreaded hat in handitude, we are not fond of doing this! But we must, or we have no way to pay the Blogosphere rent.

Without the fundraising, and you, The Political Carnival would cease to exist, so if you can, please consider donating.  Details here.

Now, back to my post already in progress:

Per my pal Hugh Kaufman (senior policy analyst with the Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Solid Waste and Emergency Response), “The Comcast Chief Operating Officer (COO) is a BIG Conservative Republican Financier. Olbermann was finished last year, if the Head of NBC wanted to keep his job.”

Hugh is right, as always:

Comcast Corp. Chief Operating Officer Stephen Burke will succeed Jeff Zucker as chief executive officer of NBC Universal, taking over the effort to revive the television company once Comcast has control. [...]

Steve Burke is an experienced, talented and visionary leader with over 25 years in the media and entertainment industry,” Comcast CEO Brian Roberts said in yesterday’s statement. “I am confident that he will lead NBCU forward to a new era of growth.”

And by growth, he meant the stifling of progressive voices on MSNBC and elsewhere.

Meet the “experienced, talented visionary”:

Ditto both previous comments. Rich right-wing bigots can succeed only so far against Truth & real facts. Like good health & integrity, facts & Truth are often invisible. Eventually, their error is glaring and the emperor has no clothes, and everyone sees it.

I now know why Keith did not want to stay around any longer, with that resume the knives will be out for Big Ed, for Rachel and the rest, but I have to ask – what are we going to do now?

The end of MSNBC and perhaps of NBC News as well. Both will fail as they copy FOX and do the Republican Party bidding. Once the GOP dismantles NPR funding, there will be no major critical, objective News media left on TV or radio.

Will anyone step up and fill the void?
