Video- The Consequences Of Vitriolic Rhetoric

A good reminder of all the hate that has led us to where we are, done by our friend Ryan at Double Dutch Politics.

  • Hey J, first of all, it's an automatic hold that is placed on ANY link from anyone who posts one in comments, including regulars.

Second: It takes awhile for us to catch up to those. Sometimes Disqus takes awhile, sometimes we get busy. You are only one of many things on our to do list.

Third: You've been spamming us with comment after whining, talking points laden comment. Time to back off or you really will get "censored"... meaning, keep it civil, no baiting, or you get edited or banned.

Fourth: Had you read our guidelines, you'd understand how to comment here. It's our prerogative to monitor on our site, not yours, ours. READ the GUIDELINES.

I am trying to post the video link, but your censorship seems to be preventing it. First Amendment????? BTW, this whole canard about "rhetoric" is simple McCarthyism by the progressive left to silence dissenters.

Like John Stewart said, our political tone no more contributed to this tragedy than heavy metal music contributed to Columbine.

This is a desperate plea to silence detractors and undermine a movement that just kicked their ass in November. If only somehow we could just connect a crazy murderer to Sarah Palin...or Rush Limbaugh. Even if the perpetrator is an independent who reads Karl Marx. Yeah, that is a brilliant idea! Especially during the week of mourning. Brilliant political plan, Dems!

This is complete bunk. Do you believe any of this? The left did, indeed, fabricate this fantastic connection between the shooting and conservatives. You must be joking when you call that into question. The left, including that incompetent Sheriff Dupnik turned this into a political stunt. No law enforcement official I have ever seen in my life has failed to do his job, and then turned to a red herring to change the subject.

Where were his deputies? Where was any law enforcement presence at the Tucson event? There was zero. He acknowledges that there is a "climate" of "heated" rhetoric and tensions are high. Well, then????? So, what does he do? He starts smearing. He starts naming names. It is slander; it is a distraction. Moreover, it is intellectually dishonest and hateful. The figures on the right got dragged into this by zealots on the left. Enough already, Walt.

This is a reference to Ed Schultz's very own brand of left-winged hate.

Among the most astonishing things to come out of the attempt on the life of Arizona Rep. Gabrielle Giffords have been the knee-jerk reactions and the efforts by the liberal establishment to pin the blame for this tragedy on conservatives.

And if Glenn Beck, Bill, O'Reilly, Sean Hannity, or anybody else said "We should rip out (Obama, Pelosi, Reid, Biden or any other Dem) heart out and kick it around", Media Matters, New York Times, MSNBC, CBS, ABC, CNN, LA Times, etc would ALL over this story and be calling for that person's resignation. But are we hearing about it now? Of course not. Another example of liberal media bias.

In 2006, a movie was made depicting the assassination of President Bush. During the 2008 campaign Obama said, “If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun.” That was okay? Chris Matthews of MSNBC wished he could see a bullet make Rush Limbaugh’s head explode and that was okay? The shooter was an Obama supporter and might have taken the president's suggestion to heart. Have you seen the video of the tweets wanting Palin harmed for something she had nothing to do with? And that's okay?

I used to listen to Michael Savage not because I agreed with him but because I wanted to know what he was about. I found him to be intelligent who makes great use of the English vocabulary. But his messaging had a very vitriol tone to it. And it was an extreme irrational right wing point of view. And he spent quite a bit time talking about the greatness of himself. Well it got to a point where I just couldn't listen to him anymore. I don't know how people could listen to to so much anger and hate coming out of one person on a daily basis. And this has been the kind of messaging that makes from 98% if political talk radio that is right wing. In fact one day I turned on Savage and he was doing his usual screaming about Liberals and I flipped over to Mark Levin. And he too was screaming about Liberals. I flipped back and forth between the station and had synchronized screaming going on. I kid you not. I know guys who listen to Limbaugh, Savage, and Levin everyday. Can you imagine their state of mind. And look how long Limbaugh has been on the air. And FOX News and right wing radio controls the Republican/Tea Party.

Just now the right wing talking heads are blaming Obama and the Liberals for creating this negative culture that has divided this country without an inkling of rationality or proof. And they are accusing the left of politicizing this tragic incident for political gain. That is calling the kettle black because that is all they are about... politicizing for political gain... and ratings. Do you really think Limbaugh was more torn up about this tragic incident than he was concerned about how he was going to be attacked by the right? These service to self right wing talking heads do not have the ability to look in the mirror and see the errors of their ways. That is why they don't believe in compromise and are self righteous in their hatred.

Now there are those who are saying it is not about left or right. But it is. You don't get the kind vile messaging from the left talking heads. Because WE DON'T THINK like these extreme right wingers. We preach humanity. Are brains are wired differently than theirs. While we have evolved as humans they have remained as barbaric as their ancestors. And I am sick and tired of the excuses that comes from the politicians and the media who blame both sides. The Civil War wasn't about both sides be right. It was about right and wrong. The South wasn't fighting for States' Rights. They were fighting to keep their cheap labor (slavery) because the made so much damn money. And the North was fighting for humanity, the Constitution, The Declaration of Indpendence... "Where all men are created equal..."

FOX News, the domination of right wing radio on are free airwaves, Drudge Report, WorldNetDaily, Newsmax, their right wing think tanks... all created from Corporatist and Theocratic extremist billionaires is undermining the values of this country while destroying it at the same time all in the name of greed.

Ugh, you're not kidding. Think about having to make it? I'm an emotional wreck. Teared up during the moment of silence this morning.

All of that hatred in one video is dangerous. I stopped listening after about two minutes. I tell you it was doing something to me. That is why I do not listen to anything FOX has to say. That kind of hatred is toxic. And if it negatively affected me in two minutes, think about what it does for people who listen to it all day long.
