Westboro church plans to picket Elizabeth Edwards’ funeral

Scum sucking bottom feeders. I have a funny feeling that they might come up against some resistance.

Raleigh, N.C. — A Kansas church famous for its anti-homosexual protests at funerals plans to protest at the Saturday funeral of Elizabeth Edwards, the estranged wife of two-time Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards.

The Westboro Baptist Church plans to protest for 45 minutes before the funeral set for 1 p.m. at Edenton Street United Methodist Church in downtown Raleigh, according to the church’s website.

The Westboro church website throws invective at Edwards but gives no specific reason why they chose to protest her funeral.

The Topeka, Kansas, church is well known for holding anti-homosexual protests at funerals, often at those of soldiers. The church, which is not affiliated with any larger Baptist group, is led by Fred Phelps and mostly attended by his family members.

Edwards, 61, died Tuesday at her Chapel Hill home after a six-year battle with breast cancer.

Westboro Baptist Church
spreads its hate through picketing in our streets, provoking attacks, with
abusive language and flag desecration, attempting to create a confrontation. This
is not a church, this is a hate group. This is not about protesting, freedom, or God.
They are in it for the money and the press; this is a family law firm. They are
not a “church.” It is a scam. They go after anything that can get
them in the news. This is a family of lawyers using this “god hates you” thing
to make money. It is time for this scam to end.

This “church” is not a church, not a christian church. Would Jesus Christ condone their thinking? Do they show love and tolerance and ‘do unto others as you would have them do unto you’ ? No ! The goverment should first of all take away their tax excempt status…at least.

Westboro Churck people are the spawn of Satan… (I mean if there was a Satan) … and maybe THIS act will finally stop them. They should have been stopped long ago w/ the military dead picketing. But, if it takes Elizabeth Edwards to finally shut the master haters down, so be it. Knowing what I have learned about her, she’d be happy to have been a part of their demise.
