There has been quite a bit made of this lately:
Last June, News Corporation, which Murdoch leads, gave a $1 million donation to the Republican Governors Association.
Now see, Think Progress is reporting that Rupert is dismissing complaints about all that, see. ClusterFox’s stellar reputation won’t be tarnished in the least, says he. Their impeccable credibility will be intact, says he.
An offhand comment by right-wing media tycoon Rupert Murdoch could land him in hot water with his company’s shareholders.
Murdoch:
“It had nothing to do with Fox News. The RGA [gift] was actually [a result of] my friendship with John Kasich.”
Alrighty then! Yippee! Everything is hunky dory. It couldn’t be hunkier or dorier. It’s the hunkiest doriest ever!
What’s that? Oh my. I’m being told things aren’t quite as hunky or dory as Rupert thought:
Unfortunately for Murdoch, there actually are laws against corporate managers treating a publicly-traded corporation as if it were their own personal bank account.
