Poll- Delaware Senate: Chris Coons (D) 50%, Christine O’Donnell (TBR) 34%

Doing my bit to make sure Coons doesn’t get ignored.

Republicans more than likely cost themselves a Senate seat last night. Chris Coons begins the general election in Delaware with a 50-34 lead over Christine O’Donnell. Mike Castle would have led Coons by a 45-35 margin.

While O’Donnell may have ingratiated herself to Delaware’s small group of registered Republicans over the last month she’s turned off everyone else. An August Daily Kos/PPP poll in Delaware found her favorability rating at 23/33. It’s now 29/50.

(snip)

Only 31% of voters in the state think O’Donnell’s fit to hold public office while 49% think that she is not. Even with Republicans in the state less than half at 48% believe that she is. That may seem inconsistent with her victory last night but keep in mind that our general election poll includes GOP voters who were not planning to vote in yesterday’s primary. Only 33% of independents and 16% of Democrats believe O’Donnell’s fit.

I'm not a teabagger or even a Republican. And I think the PC Lib kool-aid drinkers are insane, not the teabaggers. Although I don't agree with them on all issues, for the most part they are right on the money.

By the way, I'm not only not a teabagger or Republican, but I'm also not a Bible-toter, since I'm not into mysticism and deem all religion as utter nonsense. O' Donnell's personal beliefs beliefs are of no importance to me. Her little quirks [WICCAN forays, et al] only amuse me. But her stance on the political issues that matter to me are the only things that count.

I will be voting AGAINST Coons … as I am sure most other Independents like me will be doing. For putting another “tax & spend” Lib in Congress who will rubber-stamp everything Harry Reid wants his “pet” to do is ANATHEMA to us.

I too am a Conservative and a disabled veteran. But I live in New Castle County, and not many I know here think much of Coons. We still begrudge him for being the first in many years to raise our property taxes. And we don't forget his ties to the Freeberry / Gordon corruption that he helped cover up, via a backroom deal to get the county exec job.

Everyone I know in New Castle County thinks Coons was INEPT as county exec, to put it kindly. He embodies establishment politics. Harry Reid calls him his “pet.” And we don't need another “tax & spend” Lib rubber-stamping what's wrong with with Congress that we are trying to remove.

I'm NOT a Republican. I'm an Independent. And, from what I saw on a NON-PARTISAN blog for Delawareans, something like 80% there were posting favorably disposed towards O' Donnell. Not many had nice things to say about Coons. And it was obvious that most folks werev intelligent enough to realize that the personal attacks on O' Donnell for NON-ISSUE matters were of no concern to them like the POLITICAL ISSUES concerning Coons.

I'd much rather have someone as my senator who represents Conservative values. If someone claiming to be a Conservative says he intends to vote for a Commie-Socialist diametrically opposed to Conservative values, then, quite frankly, I wonder if that poster was posting honestly, or whether it was a Lib pretending to be a Conservative.

You tea baggers are insane. Do you know when America was prosperous in the 50's the tax rates for the highest earners were 91%? You have been brainwashed to think taxes are a bad word. But now you are paying more taxes with hidden fees. Consider how in your local community your bus fares have gone up. You are paying higher parking meter rates. And I bet your DMV fees are higher. The only people who benefited by the bush cuts were the wealthy. Unless you are a millionaire what President Obama and the Democratic Congress are proposing will only affect those making over $250,000 when they let the bush tax cuts expire. You are so wrapped up in your right wing ideology you are unable to step back and stop and think logically or rational. I am probably wasting my time explaining this to you what I figure, “what the heck I can piss off a tea bagger with some intellectual honesty”. Tax cuts do not create jobs. The Wall Street Journal link I will give you backs me up.

Just so you know the people who come on this website are pretty well informed and will bite off your head with facts.

I think its simple here. Dems will raise taxes increasing the scope and size of govt.. O'Donnell will vote to

lower taxes keeping the size of govt checked hopefully new candidates will really follow and i think they are

serious. The RINO's such as Castle voted with dems.. So, despite what you think of O'Donnell, we know

that her votes will be good for the survival of america. Harry Reid in my state has acted like a real kook saying some goofy things that has embarrassed here he is the most powerful person in senate. So, its simple enough what C O's past or what she has said is not really valid. Its her voting record.

    Thank you Paratrooper.

I am a Delaware conservative and a disbled veteran. It will be my pleasure to vote for Chris Coons. He will represent Delaware very well as our next Senator. And I am sorry that my party, the GOP, has that kook as his opponent. But make no mistake, my vote is for Chris Coons and not against the kook.

You are exactly the type of person who was so shocked by the events of 9-11 you got hooked by Bush/Cheney Pox. There is a book titled the Shock Doctrine written by Naomi Klein that describes how you become so disoriented by the events of 9-11 that you became a sheep following the bombastic bush and Pox propaganda. Someday the shock will wear off and you will realize you were being used to advance the corporatist agenda. I would urge you to read that book. Better yet I challenge you.

I already read on on reichwing blog that this poll is bogus and more people voted for her than will vote for Coons in the general election. They said she will destroy Coons with her real talk and appeal to voters. I was so tempted to comment but decided it wasn't worth the waste of my time among people who only depend on talking points and not rationality or logic. That said there is so much stuff out there on video showing her crazy views it'll be interesting to see if she self destructs.

Maybe those “GOP voters” who didn't vote in the primary should have voted if they really wanted something different. Since they stayed home, they proved they didn't care who ran against Coons. Now voters do not have to pick which liberal to send to DC Castle or Coons. It should be easy for voters now. If you are liberal, you have a guy to vote for. If you are conservative, you have someone to vote for. If you do not know what you are, maybe you should stay home and read the Federalist papers or something.

The GOP and the Demos need to get a grip. O'Donnell represents the future of the Republican Party, not the old, tired RINOs like Castle and certainly not the progressive wack-jobs who have taken over the DNC from the liberals of my youth.
This is from someone who spent most her life in the far-left swamp, but thankfully, grew up as a parent, was changed by 9/11 and now is proud to call herself a non-partisan conservative.
