My Twitter bud, JuneMo41, is posting live Twitpics from the real Martin Luther King, Jr. celebration, as opposed to the laughingstock now known as “Whitestock“.

I’ll share a few to give you the flavor of what’s going on there. Then we can compare them to Whitestock.

Whoot whoot… No Justice No Peace

Excellent.

There are so many young people here *heartmelts*

Now let’s take a peek at the Whitestock crowd:

Now you know why the name “Whitestock” is so appropriate.

And finally:

First of all I would never say racism is dead, but that sword cuts both ways. Have you seen the video of the New Black Panthers yelling into a microphone in the streets of New York (I believe), saying that you have to “kill crackers” and their babies? Second, I resent you calling me racist, confused, or well paid. I am none of those things. Third, Glenn Beck said that he didn't purposely pick the MLK date. I think the vast majority of Americans would not have said, “When was the “I have a Dream Speech”? Of course on 8/28.” We all know the speech, few know the date. I also don't know the exact date of Washington's fairwell speech or Lincoln's Gettysburg address. It's a matter of giving Beck the benefit of the doubt. Fourth, it's not just Republicans going crazy over the moque (I'm an Independent/Libertarian). I think the last poll showed 71% of Americans were against it, although they do have every Constitutional right to do it. And finally, I don't think that what Chris Mathews/Rachel Maddows/any left-wing commentator has is the “truth”, nor many of the people you sighted as conservative. The truth is almost always somewhere in the middle. However, what Beck mostly does is plays peoples own words to tell the story. He doesn't just give his “opinion” and try to pass it off as “truth”.

Aw, gee, someone just got deleted for name calling in his/her user name. That was fast. I didn't even have to read the comment.

  • Dumb_is_GottaLaff

Well, according to Ben Jealous of the NAACP mass email that just went out, he explained the “Dream” as follows:

“It is time we work together again to ensure that every one has the opportunity to achieve the American Dream — a secure job, a safe home, and a quality education.”

So, GottaLaff, I think you need to give good 'ole Ben a call… but DON'T be racist when you do!

  • LIBERATION

Could anyone have said it better?!?!?!?!?!

  • LIBERATION

Sorry love, but there weren't 800,000 people there, and don't lie to yourself again by saying that there were so many black people there, because they weren't. And the one's who were are confused, looking for publicity, or paid very well. GET INFORMED!

  • LIBERATION

What you won't say black, porch monkey, negro, nigger? You don't want to write it her so everyone can read it? Oh you won't stoop to our level? Remember none of those Africans asked to be piled on top of one another, shipped here in their own feces and vomit, slaves, lynched, and treated as second class citizens. Stoop to what level? There were many white people at the MARCH! Stop believing everything you hear in the media!

  • LIBERATION

You sound more ignorant than the black people that you hate so much! America was built on murder, hate, and theft! Capitalist assholes are robbing everybody, and your the stupid ones that believe their lies when they say their on your side. What have the done for you, besides make you hate anyone that is different from you?!

  • LIBERATION

You get over it! The hate spewing that goes on. Great so we know that racists and conservatives know how to lie well. so they left their signs, hoods, and guns home. so they didn't stand on national television and shout racial slurs. Not a racist rally? Sorry but we all know that the republican party is built on a platform of racism. Remember all the lynchings, and slavery? Remember the civil war? Remember segregation? are YOU serious? this honor and the ideologies that Glenn Beck holds are built on hate, fear, and contempt. Do you people think were stupid?! I don't get it wrong, Im just a white girl, with a whole lot of education. Turn of FOX and pick up a book people. Get informed!!!!!

  • LIBERATION

I love to watch the opposing side. I do watch Glenn Beck, Limbaugh, O'Reilly, even Hannity, ughhh. I stay informed and I always want to know both sides of the story, but I doubt that conservatives can even bare to hear Chris Mathews or Rachel Maddows truth! Fact is we are on different pages. We didn't intend for our rally to be mostly black (I am American of Latin descent), the same way Glenn Beck didn't mean to gather all racist white people, and a few confused and well paid others. So sad that it must be this way! Racism dead? Hell no! And isn't it funny how Republicans are going crazy over Muslims building a mosque NEAR the World Trade Center and opening it on 9/11 because it is so disrespectful. Then they organize a rally ON the steps of the lincoln memorial on 8/28,the anniversary of MLK's famous speech. HYPOCRITES!!!!!!

  • http://thepoliticalcarnival.net/ GottaLaff

I watched the entire thing. It was a boring prayer meeting that had token
people of color on stage to compensate for the SPF needy audience.
There. I said just what you hoped I'd say. Happy?

  • Jstrong1008

You are seriously and completely clueless about what was said at that rally. Did you listen to ANY of it? at all? Far and away, the most loved speaker at Beck's rally was Dr MLK's niece Dr. Alveda King. Get a clue.

  • Jstrong1008

Ah yes… “Whitestock”. That's why the most applauded speaker was Dr. Alveda King. I suppose it was all that white hatred that applauded the Native Americans, the African Americans, the Dominican/American, and the Jewish Americans.
How about doing everyone a favor and finding some less obnoxious and more representative samples of the people that attended the Honor Rally?
Did you actually listen to ANYTHING that Anyone had to say at that rally? They said NOTHING negative about Mr. Sharpton and his counter rally. I also listened to some of Sharpton's rally, and there was plenty of bitterness spewing forth. If Mr Sharpton is a Christian minister, then WHY is he only for the promotion of one race and not the unity of all races?

  • mormon does not = christian

Well now, let's look at the different pictures of the inauguration and the whitestock rally… Nowhere near 800,000 in attendance for Beck. Funny how he always seems to stretch the facts into his distorted visions. The crowd at the inauguration was around 1.8 million.

  • Jamie

It never fails to amaze me how utterly disrespectful to mankind all of the Beck-heads are. And they are claiming to be christians. Maybe they should try empathy for a change.

  • http://thepoliticalcarnival.net/ GottaLaff

Actually, Keith does provide facts. Tweety may not be as thorough, but Keith and Rachel are very good about correcting themselves if they are inaccurate, and getting the story down properly and correctly.

    Thanks for being civil.

  • EyesWideOpen

    Thanks for the link Paddy.
I spent over an hour watching and reading through the stuff at the link. Other than the “Who's the Real Glenn Beck? Faux Civil Rights Icon or Fox Shock Jock?” video, which was a bunch of clips taken out of their original context (and we know how that can give the illusion of something other than the truth – remember Shirley Sherrod – by the way, was defended SOLELY by Glenn Beck the day the story broke), most of the other stuff was merely people voicing their “opinion” in opposition of what Beck believes to be happening in the country today. Kind of like Frank and Dodd saying that Fannie and Freddie were financially sound a month or two before they collapsed. The people giving warnings that there was trouble coming with a housing bubble, were made fun of and called “fear mongers”. Maybe we should have paid a little more attention to them. And the notion that, “Beck's insistence that he and his followers are the custodians of King's dream and legacy” couldn't be more distorted. Time and time again Beck has said that just as Lincoln doesn't “belong” to whites, MKL doesn't “belong” to blacks – they both belong to humanity.

I am not ignorant. I take lots of time to be informed, as I'm sure you do. We simply see life very differently.

My original point about Beck was that he simply doesn't accuse people of things, like Keith Olbermann or Chris Matthews, without providing any proof or facts. Beck plays their own words, quotes their books, and shows their videos. This makes him much more credible than the talking heads who spew their hate filled opinions without any facts.

Here's some videos for you, if you're open minded enough to watch them.

Breezy, thank you so much for reminding me about my racism. Had you not done
that, I'd have never realized! You've shown me the light! I adore you!

  • Breezybest

racists like you? yeah, racism does come in all colors.
