Our buddies over at Palingates have graciously invited us to cross-post their latest expose of the Palin family.  They concentrate on Todd’s bullying, but I couldn’t help but notice Former Half-Gov Nastette McSnideCam and her obvious attempt to intimidate Hawk by snapping photos of him along with the Former Half-First Rude. Her attitude was clear: Don’t mess with us, don’t put us on any video that we can’t control, or pre-approve or I’ll act like a snotty little Mean Girl.

Palingate’s is a long piece with a slew of images, so I’ll just give you a few excerpts and then you can hop over to their place for the entire story:

Hawk is a citizen of Valdez and owns several shops there. He is very well connected within the community of Valdez. On August 17, 2010, Hawk went with his wife to the airport at Valdez, as she had a plane to catch from Valdez to Anchorage.

Coincidentally, Sarah Palin, Todd Palin, Greta Van Susteren and her Fox News team were booked on the same flight as Hawk’s wife.

When Hawk spotted Sarah and Todd, he took out his video camera and started filming. Not an unusual type of behavior when people spot a very famous person at a public place like an airport, wouldn’t you think?

What followed then is not only an incredibly awkward encounter, but also provides an unique insight into the mindset of Sarah and also especially Todd Palin. Never before has the highly aggressive side of Todd Palin being caught on tape. We know from documents for example like the Branchflower-report in the Troopergate-affair that Todd Palin likes to try to bully other people into submission, and this tape is proof that the former “First Dude” hasn’t changed.

Hawk starts filming, and then immediately Sarah and Todd Palin start to take pictures of him and seem to be taking down details about him, as if they were employed by the secret service.

Hawk then follows them into the airport and has his first unpleasant encounter with an angry Todd Palin. Shortly afterwards Hawk switches the camera off.

Moments later, Hawk then accompanies his wife to the gate. The camera is still switched off at this point. Then 10-15 minutes after the first encounter, Todd Palin then suddenly approaches him again, and the following encounter is even more aggressive on Todd’s part. Hawk switches the camera back on again, to record the rest of the encounter. Another woman gets involved who belongs to Greta Van Susteren’s team at Fox News and waves papers in front of Hawk’s camera, in order to make him stop filming.

To recap:
A private citizen takes his wife to the airport to catch a flight, spots a celebrity (Sarah Palin) and starts to film her to show his family and friends. This everyday occurrence between a member of the public and a celebrity is met with a very hostile response by Todd Palin.
See for yourself. This is the complete footage, nothing has been cut out or edited.

I was at the airport that day and witnessed the encounter. My first impression was that Todd Palin was a ass, and very abusive. Sarah seemed to be calm through the matter, but her husband was definately mean, aggressive and out of line. I was ready to step in and call him on his rude behavior when the plane landed.

The man needs many lessons in manners, as does the entourage they were traveling with.

  • AKRNC

For those of you saying that Hawk from Valdez shouldn't have videotaped the Palins' or that it wasn't fair to them, can you offer any explanation as to why neither one of them asked him to please, not videotape them? It would have been a simple request that would have been complied with and there wouldn't have been a problem. However, $arah has come to the conclusion that ANY publicity is good publicity, no matter what. She knows that her remaining 'bots will spin it in her favor and some of it will be released on the news with the occasional idiot throughout the country feeling sorry for them or some kiind of nonsense. Those who know their history don't give a damn about the Palin family and know they deserve anything negative that is coming to them hundreds of times over.

  • wilson201

If you are a celebrity, you are fair game. He kept his distance and was polite. Todd was out of line. They were posing for photos in the airport with other folks too!

  • http://thepoliticalcarnival.net/ GottaLaff

Thanks for that info, Patrick! Good to know!

Hear that trolls? It's not all that hard to grasp, now is it?

  • http://palingates.blogspot.com Patrick – Palingates

    GottaLaff,

thanks a lot for posting the story!

This was a chance encounter that a citizen from Valdez had with the Palins. Hawk's wife was on the same flight, he went with his wife to the airport, where he then spotted the Palins. When Hawk started filming, he had no idea that it would turn into such an controversial story. This should have been a boring 2-minute video of the Palins strolling around in an airport, but because Todd in particular chose to confront him, it turned ugly.

I also would like to point out the the “second” confrontation with Todd, from 3:13 in the video, happened after Hawk had switched his camera off already for 10-15 minutes. He was sitting at the gate and didn't plan to do any more filming. Todd then suddenly approached him again in this intimidating manner, which was Todd's own choice. Nobody had provoked him to do that. It was only then when Hawk switched the camera on again. Todd really showed his nasty side there – a side of his personality which by the way was already very well documented in the Troopergate investigation.

On the plane, Hawk's wife was then actually seated right next to Sarah Palin, but Sarah realized that this was awkward and then changed seats with Greta Van Susteren.

  • Bmanageronduty

This woman and her husband are pure Trailer Park Trash. What was the problem with him filming a celebrity? The last time I looked this was still America. Telling that man to Get a Life, and asking him Why are you shaking ,who the hell does Todd think he is. As you can see if the public kisses her ass she loves them, but if they don't she or her jerk bag husband try to intimidate them. Hey Todd why don't you pick on someone your own size. I think what frosted her was the guy asked her who she was. LOL. She is so in love with herself, that she truly believes that everyone should love her too. They were taking his picture, you didn't see him getting all pissed. If that jerk (todd) did that to me, and got that close to me, I would have made sure he never got that close to me again, or any one else for that matter. Hey Todd why don't you get a life, instead of living off your wife's.

Via 42bkdodger, who deleted his own comment by mistake:

I watched the video and the question I have is, why did Sarah and Todd feel it was necessary to either take a picture or video of Hawk, not once but twice. I would feel intimidated if a celebrating did that to me. the proper thing would have been to ask if Hawk, if he would like to take a picture with her, as she did with other people in the airport.

Todd, definitely tried to intimidate Hawk with his “why are you shaking” comment.

  • http://twitter.com/BowedOak Peg Keller

Watching her passive aggressive response to this guy made me very uncomfortable. I have seen amateur American Idol contestants with cameras in their faces acting better than Palin did here. The whole “Who are you? Where are you from? What do you do?” questioning with a seething undertone while she smiles all the way is incredibly creepy.
Maybe it's a woman thing, but it reminds me of those Cheerleader/Mother-in-law types that are incredibly manipulative without outwardly appearing to be. The pulling out the cameras to film Hawk- but no one else who was taking pictures, the in your face aggression of Todd and the girl with the papers of just a regular Joe with a camera phone, the absolute intimidation (and if you don't see it, it's probably because you do the same thing and think it's acceptable behavior) all of this speaks of massive control issues.
Can you imagine the Palins visiting a foreign country and doing this same routine to someone on the street?

  • crystalwolfakacaligrl

    “It” needs to stop?
Teabagger queen tweet crap out all the time and the MSM runs with it. Don't you think its time they see the real “Sarah Thugette Palin” with her consort Tod Thug?
Oh I guess you would love it to be censored.
Well its not. You don't like it? To damn bad!

Abby, if you suppose for one atomus of a second that the Palins would not only use, but also go out of their way to get a hold of, a video, similar to this, of one of their “enemies”, then I think your suppositions need a re-visit – they must be lonely. When all is said and done, when a public person is in a public place they should, and do, expect this kind of attention. Were it being filmed by someone more amenable to their cause, like, oh I don't know, FoxNews, they most likely would be posing and preening for the camera rather than acting like a couple of high school bullies.

  • http://palingates.blogspot.com Patrick – Palingates

Thanks a lot, GottaLaff, for your support and your efforts!

CBS NEWS picked up the story and published an excellent article, and the Palinbots are very upset about it. :-)

Hey Zipperhead, you're flying low! Out of fuel and your gauges are clearly wonky. Check your direction because I think it's got right and left bass-ackwards. It seems that you are just looking to fight for the fight itself without any clearly defined, pre-existing conviction. Oh-oh that's the ground looming up ahead. Eject NOW!!!

  • kimbutgar

I would have spit in her face instead of videotaping her and called her a hatemonger who is destroying this country. Then Todd would have hit me and I would have kicked him in the balls. That is my fantasy.

  • http://twitter.com/Tymlee Michelle Matthews

Ooof…what an oaf, to be kind, which I feel obligated to do when it comes to dumb animals.

  • KarenJ

It might be considered rude if Sarah Palin was wearing one of her above-the-knee skirts and was climbing out of a limo at the entrance to the Valdez airport where this occurred, and the guy got down on his knees to videotape her getting out of the car…

Or it might be rude if Sarah Palin had her usual offspring-and-cousins retinue along with her, even the prop DS baby she hauls around once in a while, and the guy followed the kids around and got in their faces with the camera and attempted to talk to them.

Or it might be rude if Sarah Palin, Todd Palin, and the Greta Van Susteren Fox News crew were sitting around a pool in the center court of a Valdez Alaska hotel, and the guy came up to them and started videotaping.

But this venue and the Palin party were none of these, and the guy didn't try to engage them in conversation or ask them anything — they questioned him rather aggressively, and took HIS picture — for what, their family album? A “Wanted” poster? Something to distribute to their minions, so that they could follow the guy around after the Palins left Valdez?

There are questions, and thanks for providing the impetus for me to begin asking them.

  • KarenJ

I don't find your attitude very progressive. In fact, I think it's a bit neanderthal.

  • KarenJ

Oh, so you think Todd Palin standing in this man's personal space, maybe a foot away from him, and asking him “why are you shaking?” ISN'T actual intimidation?

How about the man's account of Todd Palin coming up behind him and body-slamming him shortly thereafter, as they both made their way to the sides of their respective spouses at the waiting room of the loading gate?

Todd tried a more subtle body-slam on Kathleen Gustafson that was caught on video on August 7th, 2010, too, when she was confronted by Sarah Palin, when the Palins and the filming crew saw the WGE sign.

  • aview999

Oh no, Sarah is not the little innocent bystander (to Todd's bullying). She knows all about it, it's their MO. It's just videos like this are RARE – but i think as we go along here, more and more will be taking videos. Shit Yeah!!

  • KarenJ

I think Sarah Palin has gotten away with 20 years of not being intimidated in turn, and it's about time she felt the effect of someone calling her out. If it takes a private citizen like Kathleen Gustafson and the man who calls himself Hawk to do it, risking the intimidation the Palins are well known for throughout Alaska, I applaud their courage.

What better way to help Kathleen Gustafson and Hawk to get their message out than to use the same means the Palins do? In other words, Tweet it, Facebook it, tell the network and cable news channels. If any of us had the kind of access to TMZ, People magazine, US magazine, Esquire, Vogue, Harper's Bazaar that the Palins do, we'd call them, too.

  • KarenJ

Oh, let's take that “just because one has a 'right', it doesn't mean it should be used and abused” statement and apply it to:

    1) Sarah Palin saying Barack Obama is “not like us”, he “pals around with terrorists”.
    2) Sarah Palin saying in the earshot of a waitress, “Sambo beat the bitch”.
    3) Sarah Palin saying there are “death panels” but not telling her listeners that those death panels are managed by health care insurance companies, not our government.
    4) Sarah Palin saying that people who have been insanely pursuing a quest to “prove” President Obama wasn't born in Hawaii in 1961 as all sources indicate, that they have a right to continue questioning.
    5) Sarah Palin saying Rahm Emanuel should be fired for calling a prospective policy being discussed by congressional Dems “retarded”, but saying Limbaugh was using “satire” when he repeated “retardretardretardretard” over and over on the air.
    6) Sarah Palin saying Laura Schlessinger's 1st amendment rights were taken away from her when critics and sponsors objected to Ms. Schlessinger saying “niggerniggerniggernigger” over and over again on the air.

Question: Was Sarah Palin abusing her right to make inflammatory statements? (not to mention being totally wrong about some of her assertions, or possibly intentionally lying about them)

  • http://thepoliticalcarnival.net/ GottaLaff

Gosh, Zips, guess my tweet worked after all. Thank you, Karen et al.

  • KarenJ

The camera was never “stuck in her face”. The guy was obviously at least 10 and probably more feet away from her. The Palins should have known better than to be this aggressive towards an unauthorized-by-them private citizen aiming a vidcam at them after the phonecam incident on Aug. 7th in Homer, AK.

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/shannyn-moore/sar

What is it they say about the insane? The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results?

  • Symbolman

Hey, Zipperhead.. if you don't recognize a bristling, angry Celebrity INVADING a Private citizen's space in a threatening manner, then I feel sorry for you.. They say the great thing about Stupid people is they are much more surprised when you kill them, that's a JOKE, son. Keep playing the troll game, it's just as obvious as Todd Palin's entirely inappropriate HillBilly response to being filmed when it's NOT FOR MONEY. What's he got to hide that he's so angry? His WIFE is RICH and FAMOUS now, comes with the territory, but of course like her he has NO CLASS.

    Go HERE: It's explains everything —> http://goingrouge.net

    duh.

  • http://thepoliticalcarnival.net/ GottaLaff

    Thank you, krbmjb…

By the way, in other news, we delete gratuitous baiting comments here. If you notice your comment is missing, it means it added nothing to the convo other than that. We've allowed a few here, but it ends now.

  • krbmjb05

Ya, so it's rude. They were just checking into the airport. Why don't they ignore Hawk like ANY OTHER “so-called” celebrity. You would think she would comprehend how this works by watching her other Reality TV celeb friends like Snooki and all the Real Housewives. Just smile and walk on by! The guy wasn't saying anything or baiting them….just videotaping them.

  • Cliffschecter

No, he got in the guy's face. And then tried his manly “why are you shaking” routine. It was bullying. It was intimidation. It is what they have done in their private lives and political lives. Why don't you re-read any profile of her rise in Alaska. Boo-effin-hoo for them. Todd's bullying is news. If you can't see that, get out of the game and keep to something more your speed, you know, like squash or polo

  • Cliffschecter

No, saying a presidential candidate “pals around with terrorists” is rude. Supporting Dr. Laura's N-word rant it rude. Attacking LGBT Americans is rude. Serving them up only a fraction of their own medicine is called “justice.” If only there were more ways to make them feel the way they have made minority groups across the country feel, not for a fleeting moment with a camera on them, but for every day since their miserable existence came to the attention of the US media..

  • thanksbutnothanks

Sarah is powerless to stop Todd from embarrassing her. Just like in the Homer video. And yet, I still have NO sympathy for her.

  • Abby Lune

I don't like Sarah Palin at all, but this is reaching here. It IS rude to videotape someone like that, whether they are famous or not.

  • Cliffschecter

Sorry, don't agree. Sarah Palin has made her life's mission about becoming famous. She made this clear even back when she was Mayor of Wasilla. And she has realized that being as divisive as possible gets her even more media. She makes millions off of her stupid comments that hurt a lot of people. So this is the downside of that. Too bad.

And btw, progress will never happen as long as liberals listen to the advice of people like you. They impeach Bill Clinton, we pass GWBs tax cuts. They call Obama a terrorist, he invites them to dinner. Sometimes you have to get dirty to fight for progress. You have to stand up to bullies. The side that is too grown up to fight in the trenches, is the side that loses. Which has been liberals for, oh, a generation now. Stop the naivete, and quite frankly, grow up yourself…

  • rk

I agree with Zipperhouse, this video is lame. There is no intimidation by Todd Palin here. I hate and loath Sarah Palin and her clan with a passion, but none of the Palins did anything newsworthy here. The guy was taping them and Todd like a stupid jerk that he is videotaped him back. A more mature person would have ignored him. This tape is meaningless.

  • Zipperhouse

    Good, love ya! Keith

  • http://thepoliticalcarnival.net/ GottaLaff

No, actually I am doing a favor for Palingates, who I happen to agree with.

    Your condescension is duly noted.

  • Zipperhouse

Whatever, GottaLaff, you want to divert the issue; whether your initial tweet used the word bullying or intimidate, that's not what my problem is with this. You used both words at some point. My whole issue is that you are trying to stir something up about Palin and hope to get all us progressives in a hissy-fit over this. It's an all too-common problem that is non-productive and it delegitimizes actual, real issues that the Palin propagate.

  • http://thepoliticalcarnival.net/ GottaLaff

..you claimed Todd was bullying some poor citizen…

No, I didn't claim that, so I guess you don't read my Tea Party titles,
either. It says, “Attempt to Intimidate”. Palingates wrote the rest. My
reference to bullying IN the post references Palingates' words, not my own.

So much for your intelligent debate.

  • Zipperhouse

Yeah, see, they WEREN'T bullying anyone, this is my problem. You, including Shannyn Moore, have jumped on this video's bandwagon. Herd-mentality. Just as bad as Tea Partiers. Remember, most liberals believe in fairness, too, and some of us will actually call you out, even if we are on the same side of the political spectrum. Listen, I like to discuss things and have an intelligent, lively debate. Although I am completely sick and tired of Sarah Palin, I watched your video because you claimed Todd was bullying some poor citizen. Bottomline, this whole video and 'article' is pure hypocrisy and shameful. Step back and look at it all again.

  • http://twitter.com/molinelobo don stewart

The revealing thing is Sarah in the background, asking? or letting people take pictures of her. She is trying to appear oblivious of Todds actions. “I didn't see anything”

  • http://thepoliticalcarnival.net/ GottaLaff

That is so cute, Zip. Yes I tweeted them, because Palingates requested that
I help get it out there. And yes they very well might put it up, because it
is newsworthy. I noticed Shannyn Moore, Jason Leopold, Symbolman, and
Wolfrum, who kinda have a handle on this stuff, thought it was newsworthy
too. Why not go over there and let them know it isn't, k? I'm sure they'll
    appreciate your expert opinion.

As for legitimacy, I think that the Palins, public figures, bullying someone
is legit. If you don't, fine. You're entitled to your opinion, and the rest
of us are entitled to ours.

  • Zipperhouse

Why not? Why not? This whole thing is completely lame and you are obviously trying to get some sort of extra attention with this. You tweeted Keith Olbermann, Dylan Ratigan and Ed Schultz this video. Do you really think there's news or relevance here that they are going to put this on their national TV shows? You know what, attack Palin legitimately. Not with this ridiculous nonsense. You're just stooping to her level. Nothing will be gained in the long run with this sort of crap. It needs to stop.

    either.

Zipper, just because something is “fair enough” doesn't make it right
    either.

  • Zipperhouse

Just because one has a 'right', it doesn't mean it should be used and abused. I'd be interested in knowing what you mean by saying the teabagger queen (which I agree, she is) is giving us a glimpse…where in this video is there this 'glimpse'? Again, I don't like and agree with the Palins myself, but this video shows them behaving just fine. Some stranger is videotaping them, so they videotape him. Fair enough.

  • Fawn218

Freedom of speech does extend to filming and taping in public. The teabagger queen is giving us a glimpse of what the average citizens “rights” would be if she ever held office.

  • Tyroanee

Ya gotta love those palins- oh wait this is Alaska isn't it? Yeah they should both stick to the red states, where they have the gullible throwing money at their feet.

  • Zipperhouse

Sorry, but this is all lame. Look, I think the dimwit from AK is a selfish, media-whore, too. But, really, what do you all expect? So what if she's now famous, she should still be allowed to go to a public place and allowed some space. Fine, she is famous, so she can expect people to ask to have their pictures taken with her and for that she should accomodate graciously. But to have a video camera constantly stuck in her face trying to get a 'gotcha' moment is really kind of lame. If this type of back and forth nonsense is going to continue, where people are trying to make an issue of something where there just isn't anything relevant or worthwhile, progress will never, ever happen. One side needs to be the grownup. We are counting on the Left to be the grownups because the Right has too far to go to get there.
