Democrats Jump Ahead in Congressional Ballot

Maybe getting things done for the average voter is a good thing? Just asking…

In the same week the U.S. Senate passed a Wall Street reform bill, a new Gallup Poll shows Democrats pulling ahead of Republicans in the generic congressional ballot, 49% to 43%.

The result represents the first statistically significant lead for Democrats since Gallup began weekly tracking in March.

“Whether the Democrats’ edge is sustainable remains to be seen. Republicans held a four-point or better lead over Democrats in three Gallup weekly averages thus far this year, but in each case, the gap narrowed or collapsed to a tie the following week.”

Did you know Mitchell, according the Labor Dept. statistics, Bush has worst job creation on record for a president who served 8 years as well as the worst payroll expansion. Under Bush, 3 million jobs created with and payroll expansion of 2.3% vs. Clinton, 23.1 million jobs created with a payroll expansion of 21.1%. While their was record tax receipts, it didn't offset the costs of two wars and a Plan D Medicare (a give away to the drug companies) which were kept off the books. Bush did not bring down the debt. He raised it by a few trillion dollars.

The biggest expansion of the economy was the giant security bureaucracy created under Bush with hundreds of private contractors taking billions of tax payers dollars. The middle class saw very little of the profiting times under Bush. Approximately 600 billion dollars left the middle class and went to the top 1 percent. Much of that was invested overseas or stashed in off shore accounts. What reality were you living in.

The real estate bubble was created before the Democrats ever took power. Your arguments have long been debunked. The blame belongs mostly to the unregulated big Wall Street Banks and the irresponsible real estate marketers. Both parties are to blame for not reigning in this corruption. At least the Democrats acknowledge their mistakes and are willing to try and do something to fix it. Despite what you want it to be… supply side economics doesn't work.

Despite that the Republican Party has whole news network (I think you know the network) and the domination of right wing radio doing their bidding and undermining the Democratically elected president from his first day in office, you can fool some of the people (about 27 percent) but you can't fool all the people. Now we know that millions of wealthy right wingers and corporations are pouring money into think tanks who pay pollsters to frame survey questions that favor their outcome. The corporate media has been poor on giving any favor to a sitting Democrat president. Still, the disaster of the Bush administration is fresh enough in most voters minds.

Mitchell, Nixon was the last fiscally responsible president and I can't remember when a Republican controlled Congress was ever fiscally responsible. The fact is they want to spend this economy into so much debt as to convince Americans to get rid of SSN, and medicare, and medicaid. Good luck with that one. Reality trumps ideology. Unfettered capitalism has been slowly killing the middle class while creating a Socialistic system for the rich who get to play by a whole set of rules. And for main street America, we work longer hours for less. Our parents had it better. Republican policies have taken us backwards. Republicans will never try and fix this. Because for your Republican rulers, before anything else, it is about money and power… no matter what they try sell you.

For those on the left that blame Republicans for the current financial mess, you are aware the Democrats have controlled Congress since 2006, right? You are aware that the Budget Deficit in 2006 was 200 billion and today it is 2.4 trillion, right? You are aware that the current financial mess grew from the real estate bubble caused by Barney Frank forcing banks to lend to people with bad credit, right?

Which Republican policies resulted in the current financial mess? The Bush Tax Cuts? Sorry, but don't make me laugh. The Treasury received RECORD tax receipts AFTER the Bush Tax Cuts. Tax Cuts ALWAYS increase revenues because they increase business activity which can be taxed at lower rates more often. Higher marginal rates DECREASE revenues because they decrease business activity and thus tax lower revenues at a higher rate resulting in decreased tax proceeds.

The Democrats are to blame for the current financial mess. Anyone who says differently is not considering the facts.

CONCLUSION: Is it unreasonable to assume that the party which has been in charge for the last 4 years is responsible for the current financial mess? If now, when does what democrats do start to count? I promise you that if the Republicans take over Congress in November, the MSM will be blaming them for the bad economy one day after they are sworn in. Democrats are still getting a pass after 4 years.

Did anyone else notice that this Gallup Poll is an obscene outlier? Every other poll on the Generic Preference question has the Republicans up significantly. Considering Gallup came in 17th out of 20 pollsters as to accuracy in 2008, one wonders why anyone pays attention to them at all? Their Presidential Approval polling jumps up and down 6 points from day to day.

Of course, the MSM will choose to ignore all of the other polls and report only on this one even though Gallup has a clear reputation for being completely wrong.

P.S., Who was the #1 most accurate pollster in 2008? That Republican Hack, Rasmussen. Go figure. The liberal fav Gallup comes in 17th missing by a mile and the “discredited” Rasmussen nails it dead on. Maybe the MSM has mislabeled the wrong pollster as “discredited”?

You realize Michell, all your talking points that have been ingrained into your brainwashed head by your talking head masters have been debunked. Do you realize that it was the deception of Wall Street and the real estate agents and their ponzie scheme that created the mortgage meltdown… that imploded our economy.

You realize that the two tax cuts for the wealthy, two unpaid wars (kept off the books), Plan D Medicare (give away to the drug companies) cost far more than the tax receipts. The debt did not decrease… it only went up. Do you realize under Bush a new giant security bureaucracy fiasco was created with government doling out billions of tax payers money to private contractors: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/07/19/washington-post-investiga_n_650935.html

The fact is their has not been a fiscally responsible Republican administration since Nixon. And you would have to go back into the history books to find a majority conservative Congress that was fiscally responsible. Reaganomics, Friedmanomics, unfettered capitalsim, trickle down economics… whatever you want to call it has been a failure for most Americans. Bush Sr. couldn’t have been more right when he said it was “voodoo economics.”

You have Republican think tanks paying these pollsters big buck to asks their specially framed questions to give the impression that Republicans are favored. It is all a game of smoke and mirrors and deception by the Republican operatives to create a false narrative. That is why you also have asshats and nutcases like Limbaugh and Beck out their shilling our their snake oil. The fact is Obama has a higher approval rating than both Reagan and Clinton had at this point. The real race for November won’t begin until the last couple of months.

Maybe Mitchell, instead of looking down that narrow tunnel vision you should walk through the tunnel and see what is on the other side. Because for all your rhetoric, looking back at the eight years of Bush/Cheney it has gone down as one of the worst on record. So soon do you ideologists forget… or refuse to see reality.

So here are some myths about the Republican Party:

    - They are fiscally responsible. (one of the biggest myths)
    - They are the morally responsible party. (please… that is an easy one)
    - They care about the American Party. (not as much as they care about money)
    - They represent the Constitution. (as long as it benefits their benefactors)

just finished retching to mike pence (r-idiocy) on with tweety. tweety wasn't nearly as hard on congressman dim as he shoulda/coulda been, but pence still looked like a fool. tweety kept pushing him for specifics on what the repubs would do should they regain the majority, and what he got back couldn't even be classified as platitudes.
maybe the repubs could run this year under the slogan “WE KNOW WE FUCKED UP LAST TIME, BUT THIS TIME WE'LL DO BETTER. TRUST US.”
