I'm so sick of folk like Derp here creating myth around President Reagan. He was now scholar. Hell he wasn't even a decent actor, what he was… was the idea of what a certain certain of white men believed of themselves which was that they are the only true Americans and deserve privilege and everyone else must get in line behind them. For the record: President Reagan and his team convince the Iranians not to release hostages until after he'd been elected. He pretend and damn there lied about his involvement in the Iran-Contra guns for hostages debacle. He broke the back of the Unions in this country which open the doors to allowing Corporations to ship jobs overseas. He pretended that there wasn't a Aids crisis in this country and therefore left a great many people die before Aids was addressed as a public health crisis. He received advice from people who took their direction from psychic readers. He said that government was the problem and not the solution, and then expanded the size of government, something people like still today have a problem processing. I would go on, but my fingers are getting tired.
