Video- Cranky Dem Congressman Manhandles Obnoxious “Student” UPDATED

That guys an obnoxious twat, but he didn’t deserve to get roughed up like that. “Gotcha” journalism at it’s worst. Dave attempts a follow up here.

UPDATE- The “Student” has been tentatively identified as Stephen Gutowsk**i, who from a quick google ain’t much of a student since it looks like he has a gig over at the right wing Newsbusters.org. His own supposed site Eyeblast.tv is not coming up, probably too many hits. And Congressman Etheridge apologizes-

(CNN) – Rep. Bob Etheridge apologized Monday for his physical confrontation with two young men who identified themselves as students and asked if the North Carolina Democrat “fully supports the Obama agenda.”

“I have seen the video posted on several blogs. I deeply and profoundly regret my reaction and I apologize to all involved. Throughout my many years of service to the people of North Carolina , I have always tried to treat people from all viewpoints with respect. No matter how intrusive and partisan our politics can become, this does not justify a poor response. I have and I will always work to promote a civil public discourse.”

Spelling corrected per Mr G’s request.

UPDATE: The name Stephen Gutowski was given to TPC. The word “tentative” was used for a reason. No definitive I.D. has been made, hence the word “tentative”.

    I see you have no interest in accuracy. Steve Gutowski (the proper spelling) had nothing to do with the production of this video. Eyeblast is not “his” site. It's owned and operated by the Media Research Center. He is just an editor there. If you had bothered looking into this bogus claim–say, by contacting Steve (radical stuff, I know)–you would have discovered these facts for yourself.

    Sites like this do a magnificent job of reinforcing the rationale for NewsBusters and other center-right media watchdogs: too many on the left–Paddy included, apparently–are simply horrendous reporters. Maybe next time you should try doing some research. You might learn a thing or two.

    Of course, you'll never see the entire video. Unless, there is some sort of legal investigation, and even then, if they learned from the ACORN video, they probably destroyed the rest of the footage. Just more sleaze, lies, distortion and despicable provocation from the right wing.

    While Etheridge is an ass here, I have trouble going whole hog bitching about this until I see the entire, unedited video(s) of this incident. This is mostly because this video has primarily been published and promoted by breitbart.tv (same place the ACORN videos premiered). For some odd reason, that raises my bullshit meter to about 11. . .
