DALLAS, May 30 (UPI) — George W. Bush’s Texas presidential library is set for groundbreaking in the fall but may not have reached its fundraising goal of $300 million, observers say.

In early 2009 sources in the Bush Foundation said they’d passed the $100 million level, and the same sources claimed $200 million by November, The Dallas Morning News reported Sunday.

But the foundation has yet to file financial reports past 2008, when federal tax filing showed it had $23.1 million on hand, the newspaper said.

Foundation officials declined to say what the present total is.

“We’re on schedule with everything — the building design, the fundraising,” Mark Langdale, president of the Bush Foundation, said. “We’re pleased with our programs.”
