Campbell Brown Resigns From CNN, Spitzer to Slip Into Brown’s Spot

First of all, can we discuss that blog title? I grabbed it directly from FishbowlDC.

Spitzer slips into enough spots, but hey, leave Campbell Brown’s out of this. Bada BING!

But seriously folks:

An Excerpt From Brown’s Statement
Simply put, the ratings for my program are not where I would like them to be. It is largely for this reason that I am stepping down as anchor of CNN’s “Campbell Brown”. …The simple fact is that not enough people want to watch my program, and I owe it to myself and to CNN to get out of the way so that CNN can try something else.”

Meanwhile, the Washington Examiner is reporting that former N.Y. Gov. Eliot Spitzer is getting his own show — it’s Brown’s slot on CNN.

I’m surprised that MSNBC didn’t hire him, since he substitutes there often. He would have been a good addition.

You can read Brown’s entire letter at the link. It’s a very good one.

She will be sorely missed. I think it is CNN's loss and definitely the loss of those of us who admire her work. And replacing a woman with a womanizer does not sit well with me.

    Good point, Shustie.

    LOL!

I agree, btw. But love your wording.

Considering this is from the Washington Examiner… by the same people who reported on David Shuster looking like a dork on the softball field, no less… I'm inclined not to believe this report.

Another monkey wrench in the works of this story actually working is that Eliot subbed for Dylan on Monday. You would think that CNN would look for somebody to fill the slot who hasn't been mostly hanging out with the competition, and hasn't made any indication that he'd like to hang out on a different network. Spitzer seems perfectly happy on MSNBC, so why make the jump? (The fact that he effusively denied the story in the DC Examiner piece is also a decent hint we should take this with a grain of salt.)

Good trade! Can't stand her. And in spite of his wandering wiener, Spitzer still seems to get it. (Oh um, politically I mean. Not THAT kind of “get it”.)
