Archie, Betty, Veronica, Mr. Weatherbee, Miss Grundy, Reggie, and Jughead have a new gay comic panel-mate, and it’s about time:

Here is the summary from the press release:

Kevin will appear in September’s VERONICA #202, in a story called “Isn’t it Bromantic?” Kevin Keller is the new hunk in town and Veronica just has to have him. After Kevin defeats Jughead in a burger eating contest at Pop’s Chocklit Shoppe, she desperately latches onto him. Mayhem and hilarity ensue as Kevin desperately attempts to let Veronica down easy and her flirtations only become increasingly persistent.

Veronica, you magnificently ignorant slut… (at 1:10)

That Jughead, he’s such a scamp.

I find it fascinating that comic book characters are more enlightened than many Americans.

Why, I bet the creators of Archie Comics never even thought to introduce Don’t Draw, Don’t Tell.

Gee, Mr. Montana… What happened to YOU? You created and led the team until your sad death in 1975–but you left quite a legacy of Common Decency in the emerging Youth Culture that just made (increasingly UN-) Common Sense. But you took a STAND, Mr. Montana. Thanks to you, we who lived in our OWN Riverdale's can quote the line in Wikipedia saying, "In the 1970s and 1980s, the Archie characters were authorized for use in a series of Christian comic books written and drawn by Al Hartley for Spire Christian Comics."
WHO chose to acknowledge the Homosexual Problem? WHOSE idea is it to open this fetid group to our trusting youth? Who decided, and WHY would they want to risk the turn of this tide and open your Legacy, Mssr.'s Montana and Hartley? Why allow the counter-cultural Freebooters to mangle and malign Creative Decency and your leadership IN that movement?
It was YOUR comics that actually LED the FIGHT against the first "counter-culture" revolution of Anger, in-valid desperation, drugs, "NOT-so-free" sex, and Open Rebellion in the mid-1960's onwards.
