Video- C-SPAN Caller Complains: Too Many Black People Call In

Awfully civil of the guy to allow them to have an opinion, just not too often I guess. This particular CSPAN guy bugs me most of the time, but the nodding and seeming agreement with the bigot is just a bit too much. Via TPM.

Good lord. Is this guy [the caller] a remote viewer or psychic? So what if African-Americans call a million to one on the republican line. Sheesh, and the response of the "journalist" might have well been, "ditto," he was so lame!
True life: A family member has an in-law who is a physician. Some years ago, some of her white patients began to groan and mumble to her that they noticed too many Black people were amongst her patients. What these racist grumblers did not know was that although the physician appeared white with naturally blond hair, she herself is an African American!

Good piece, but your headline makes no mention of the fact that this caller is a self-identified Republican.

  • Anthony

    This guy IS NOT Black!!!!!!!

  • Brad

There was no excuse for the moderator to say "I understand your frustration" and "We appreciate your input." That at least gives the appearance he is validating the bigot's point of view. Most times the moderator says nothing at all as s/he moves to the next call. That certainly would have been a better option here! Even better: "we don't screen callers for race, color, creed, or IQ (obviously!)"

How does this person know the skin color of someone who calls in? Is he perhaps assuming all black people sound alike and one can distinguish someone race and ethnicity by voice alone, maybe even anyone who defends Obama and the democratic party can't be white?

The host should have cut him off instead of letting him go on endlessly with his bigotry.

The crazy thing is, I know Bill, and he's Black.

  • Mutt Like Me

I'm confused, is this man complaining that black people are calling into the CSPAN republican line and defending Obama from criticism?

  • tickle_b

All I can say at this point is that I wish that surprised me :(

I'll have to go back and watch the whole thing Ann, only made it halfway thru before I had to move along.

But the Republicans are NOT racist. You know that. ;-)

  • Ann

I didn't see any agreement in the host. In fact, I thought he kind of shot the guy down, with a diplomatic nod to the frustration many of us feel when hearing someone else express an opinion so different than our own. What I did see the host do was just stop listening and wait for a break so he could respond and move on.
