My segment starts at about the 30 minute mark.

Nicole Sandler is a pleasure to talk to. It’s like a couple of pals gabbing our heads off, a sort of stream of consciousness.

Thank you, Nicole, for putting me at ease and making a half hour fly by!

Family Research Council: Stop RNC Donations

By GottaLaff

Blow. Back:

In the wake of the expense scandal at the Republican National Committee, the Family Research Council urged supporters to stop donating to the RNC “and instead contribute to its own coffers or to candidates with like-minded goals,” CNN reports. [...]

Earlier, we noted big Republican donors are already bypassing the RNC.

When Tony Perkins isn’t happy, the money goes bye-bye. And we all know it’s al-l-l about the money.

Via the Family Research Council site:

The Republican National Committee (RNC) is at the center of another controversy, this one regarding nearly $2,000.00 spent at a bondage-themed strip club outside of Los Angeles. Information about the $1,946.00 dollar expenditure at Voyeur West Hollywood became public when the RNC released its most recent financial disclosure report. The public controversy over the expenditure led to the firing of the staffer yesterday who had incurred the expense. This latest incident is another indication to me that the RNC is completely tone-deaf to the values and concerns of a large number of people from whom they seek financial support. [...]

I’ve hinted at this before, but now I am saying it–don’t give money to the RNC. If you want to put money into the political process, and I encourage you to do so, give directly to candidates who you know reflect your values. Better yet, become a member of FRC Action and learn about the benefits it offers, including participating in the FRC Action PAC which can support candidates who will advance faith, family and freedom!

The RNC has an owie. Who’s gonna kiss it now?

Money burning

Bill O’Reilly to Pay Court Costs of Fallen Marine’s Father

I’m relieved that the soldier’s family doesn’t have to come up with the money to pay those creeps, but I can’t help but wonder what Bill-O the Clown is getting out of this (other than badly needed positive press):

Newsmax reports FNC’s Bill O’Reilly will pay the legal fees for the father of a fallen U.S. Marine who sued members of the Westboro Baptist Church who picketed his son’s funeral.

This is not the face of a do-gooder:

Get Yer Big F***ing Tee Shirts!

Hey kids! Time for today’s lesson, which is, “How to Drop F-Bombs for Fun and Profit“:

OFA, the president’s political arm housed at the Democratic National Committee, is using Biden’s now infamous phrase on a T-shirt to commemorate the signing of health care reform into law.

Donors who give at least $25 will receive “a limited edition ‘Health Reform is a BFD’ T-shirt in a super-soft, fine jersey (men’s) or baby rib (women’s) cotton fabric,” according to a new fundraising page posted Wednesday on OFA’s Web site.

Wow, this is a big f***ing deal. It’s not often that a “gaffe” can work out this well.

Oh, and health care reform is a bfd too:

There are things that are a big deal – birthdays, anniversaries, the NCAA Championship game,” OFA wrote in a fundraising note. “And then there are things that are a BFD, like delivering health insurance to 32 million Americans.”

V.P. Joe makes me smile for so many reasons. This was like icing on the Biden cake.

Here’s where you go to buy a big f***ing shirt:

Republican Pete Sessions Held Fundraisers at Burlesque Clubs

Google GmailFacebookTwitterLinkedInStumbleUponRedditFarkDiggTumblrBlogger PostDeliciousFriendFeedNewsVineGoogle BookmarksGoogle ReaderMultiplyPosterousEmailBookmark/FavoritesWordPressShare

Look at all the fun things you find when you start poking around. Background here from Down With Tyranny.

What they’ve turned up is a couple of fundraisers held by Texas Rep. Pete Sessions a while back. He currently runs the National Republican Congressional Committee, the top fundraising and candidate recruitment operation for House Republicans.

(snip)

At worst, one of the fundraisers, held in 2007, was at a Vegas burlesque club, Ivan Kane’s Forty Deuce. FEC papers show Pete PAC spent $5,378 at the burlesque club, which also that year hosted porn-star Jenna Jameson’s 33rd birthday party.

Our old pal Mary Ann Akers who writes the Sleuth column for the Washington Post’s website also wrote about another more low key event at a racy Vegas club called Tao held in February 2009.

Is there a theme here? Democrats snicker yes and plan to make it a campaign issue in the fall. “Considering that NRCC Chairman Pete Sessions himself and Michael Steele’s RNC have chosen to use strip clubs as their fundraising base, Republican congressional candidates can expect to be asked if they will accept stripper raised money from either,” says a Democratic strategist.

RNC: Gluttons for punishment

Google GmailFacebookTwitterLinkedInStumbleUponRedditFarkDiggTumblrBlogger PostDeliciousFriendFeedNewsVineGoogle BookmarksGoogle ReaderMultiplyPosterousEmailBookmark/FavoritesWordPressShare

By GottaLaff

How stupid do you have to be to invite more negative attention about your own scandal while releasing harmless information about your intended target? DeflectionFail:

The RNC “has been on the defensive this week because of some questionable expenditures,” First Read notes, and is “pushing back today by sending around a list of what the Democratic National Committee has spent money on, including more than $2 million on luxury hotels and caterers, $75,000 for car services, and $262,000 for ‘other events’ at the Kennedy Center, Fenway Park, and a D.C. nightclub.”

The only problem is that there is nothing shocking in the list of Democratic expenditures that comes close to matching what Republicans spent on “bondage-themed nightclubs” and private jets.

Bunch of stupid or funny animated gifs

Here’s an idea, RNC: Clean up your act. Once that happens (as if…), go ahead and point fingers. Until then, it might be a good idea to stop the self-inflicted wounds.

Oh, and fire your chairman… but not too soon. We need him around for a few more months.
